Yes, birth is natural and works itself out.
So why do you need a Birth Plan?
As I look back on my first birth, it is clear: the one reason to have a Birth Plan is to avoid procedures that could cause complications or emergencies. Another reason is to make sure your baby feels safe and welcome. The pregnancy, birth, and first hours have a huge impact on our physical and mental health, even if we can't remember it cognitively.
Maybe babies can't see with their eyes, but they are fully aware and perceive the energy. And there are some experiences, like the first touch, or whether he/she can hear your voice and heartbeat, which signify a safe place for your baby. Another tiny part: when the cord is cut (and the birth plan sample from the NHS page does not mention this tiny part).
As a holistic/energetic counselor, I would also say that with planning, you build a connection with your body, your baby, and your future birth.
I would like to mention that preparation for birth does not start when you get a positive pregnancy test. You should take care of your body, your mind, and your health every day!

Let's write a BirthPlan....
Do you know the statment " If the A plan does not work there are more letters of the ABC"
And yes of course there is no any tragedy when something does not show up as you wish. Greater possibilities always come to your way.
Another hand if you play with to much "if" in your mind you could lost among them.
Please remember it is YOUR BirthPlan. You hear, get and even have in unconsciousness mind many expectations, judgments, projections... Do not know what I mean? Ok. Example: your parents want to get a phonecall immediaetly when it' started, your friends want to visit you in the hospital and hold your baby, it's just pregnancy you can work, you're pregnant do not do too much, you need to preapere your body so visit yoga class, stop the running is not good in your condition...or
do what they suggest and finish fast (hospital)
So do not care if your mum or friend will be sad, angry or disappointed.. the nurse or midwife will feel rejected.
This is YOUR body, your baby, your life.
I would suggest the following way:
Have the sense your birth. What do you preiceive? Is it like a breath of the ocean, the smell of the medow after a rain or the view from the hill? What do you sense? It can be colours, smells, bodysensation...
Yes I do not ask you and exact picture, not yet.
And I did not said, but you "work out" this with your body and your baby. Listen to them. We do not do any mind excersise, reasoning. We just listen to our very being.
Do you have the sense? Ok.
Now ask! What could it take to actualize this?
What is the place where I can experience this?
Yes we get to the place of the birth.
You do not have to think long. You get the answer in the first 2 seconds.
Next question: Who would be contribution for this and could create greater life with its present?
Again. Do NOT think! The answer there in the first 2 seconds.
What can I do, use, involve to make it with ease, joy and glory?
Maybe you see a picture, sense a smell, get some words
This will be the sceleton of your BirthPlan.
Now we start to fill it with more practical details. ( next post )
